At home, he is an absolute mush who lives for belly rubs, carrying his favorite toys proudly around the yard, and playing hard before settling into a deep, happy snooze. Like many smart, sensitive working breeds, Cowboy’s initial reaction to new dogs and unfamiliar people is guarded. He can be vocal or reactive upon first sight and needs structured, low-pressure introductions rather than a rush-in greeting. Once he is given a few patient minutes to observe and realize everyone is a friend, his goofy, affectionate side emerges quickly.
